The NVQ in hairdressing is awarded at three different levels:

• Level 1 accredits the skills of trainees and other salon staff working as hairdressing assistants.
• Level 2 covers the essential skills required by a hairdresser.
• Level 3 covers the wider range of skills required by senior salon staff.
